Mild weekend ahead then we sit and wait for a cut-off low to form offshore (hopefully far offshore) that will slowly impact our weather beginning on Monday.
Two items to watch – where this low eventually sets up – consensus now seems to be off the Central California coast.
Next – due to high pressure due east – this low will have a tough time moving through until a system to the northwest begins to nudge the low and its associated showers and possible thunder into California – around late Monday and into Tuesday. Showers may linger into early Wednesday before skies dry up completely. More rain appears possible next weekend.
Cut off lows are notorious for being forecast busters and giving meteorologists a few extra grey hairs. We’ll see how this one behaves into the new week. – RM
